Alabama Continuing Education (CE) - Frequently Asked Questions

Are Cloud Crust LLC continuing education courses approved in Alabama?
Yes. All Alabama continuing education courses offered by Cloud Crust LLC are approved by the Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board (HBLB). Course approval documentation is maintained by the Board and may be reviewed on the HBLB website.
Who is required to complete continuing education (CE) in Alabama?
For the Alabama renewal cycle, all licensees and/or Designated Qualifying Representatives (DQRs) under age 60 must complete six (6) credit hours of Board-approved continuing education before a new license is issued.

Common exemptions (as listed by the Board) may include:
• Licensees who will be 60 by October 1
• First-time renewal (renewing for the first time)
• Military activation/deployment for 90 consecutive days during a licensure year
• Approved personal hardship (must be formally approved)
• Inactive licensees (note: CE is required to return to active status)
How many hours do I need, and is there an Alabama-specific requirement?
You must complete six (6) total credit hours each renewal year. At least two (2) of the six (6) hours must be Alabama-specific each year. Our course bundles include Alabama-specific courses to help you meet this requirement.
When is the Alabama license renewal season?
The Board lists renewal season as October 1 through December 31. Board policies also note that failing to meet CE requirements by November 30 may trigger a $50 administrative late fee (in addition to the renewal fee).
Does Cloud Crust LLC report course completions to the Board?
Yes. The Board's continuing education guidance indicates that providers must notify the Board of completion within five (5) days. We submit completion records in accordance with Board requirements.

Important: Always keep your certificate of completion for your records.
What delivery methods are used for Alabama continuing education courses?
Cloud Crust LLC offers online-only continuing education courses for Alabama home builder license renewal.
Will I receive documentation upon completion of a course?
Yes. After successful completion, your certificate of completion will be issued and available for download for your records.
Does completing CE renew my Alabama home builder license?
No. Completing continuing education does not renew your license by itself. License renewal applications and fees must be submitted through the Board's renewal process.
How long will I have access to my online course?
Access to purchased online courses remains available for one (1) year from the date of first login. Courses must be completed within this period to receive continuing education credit.
Are courses compatible with mobile devices?
Yes. Cloud Crust LLC courses work on smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers.
